Clean!

It is Monday, and each Monday is partly a day off for us, so I have done some washing and had a shower! Hurrah! Trek C left this morning for Dingboche, and we expect Trek D tomorrow. Liesl, Gwen, George, Callan, Nikki, and Jildou have just set off to spend the night at Gorak Shep, so that they can climb Kala Patar for sunrise. Mark Edsell and Mark Wilson will ?run? up Kala Patar early tomorrow morning. I am hoping to meet the first group at the Everest Base Camp bakery for a snack before Trek D get in tomorrow morning.

The climbers have set off up the icefall again this morning for Camp One. They plan to spend the next ten days on the mountain at the Western Cwm and South Col carrying out an extensive scientific testing programme. The climbers that have gone are Mike Grocott, Denny Levett, Dan Martin, Sundeep Dhillon, Chris Imray, Jeremy Windsor, Roger McMorrow, Nigel Hart, Mick O?Dwyer, Paul Gunning, Patrick Doyle, Andre Vercueil, Paul Richards, Vijay Ahuja, and Maryam Khosravi.

We are in close radio contact with them to monitor their progress on the mountain. The group has been joined by three cameramen ? Dave Rasmussen and Graham Hoyland from the BBC, and Michael Brown from IMAX.

Mac and I have been left holding the fort with the assistance of Rhys, Bobby, Rob and Ben. Jules will also join us this evening after taking a walk this afternoon towards Gorak Shep.

Hi Kay, I saw the picture of Gwen and Liesll doing their wash, which would appear to take a bit of time. Ryan has mentioned food consist of high carbs and low protein, consistent with the BC Bakery. Continued best wishes on a safe expedition and thank you for the updates.
