The Last Namche Blog?

8 messages :: read>

Team Namche bade farewell to the final up-going trekking group today. Our testing here is now complete; none of us can believe how fast it has all gone! The efficiency of the well oiled Team Namche machine that we have been so used to throughout testing continued through into the packing phase. Lee, our logistics team member co-ordinated a slick effort, returning all the kit to its assigned barrels and cases.

We will all be sad to leave behind the wonderful generosity and hospitality of Lakpar Sonam at the Sherwi Khangba lodge where our lab and trekkers have been based. There are, however, work and adventures to be had farther up the hill. Dick and I are off to climb Island Peak with Team Pheriche, before heading to Base Camp to test the Caudwell Xtreme Team. Meanwhile Tracie and Alan have gone to help the Pheriche Team with their final testing and packing, and Goli has headed up to EBC with Polly from Kathmandu. Lee and Helen will also go to EBC to help with the packing effort.

Monty has been an inspirational leader here in Namche, and can take full credit for the smooth running of the lab. He kept spirits high with his good cheer (and an occasional bottle of champagne!).

Club Namche, the scene of many a lively party for celebrating down-going trekkers, will of course be back in action in June when the whole Caudwell Xtreme Team come back through Namche! Team Namche will host in our impressive, if a little camp, ?Club Namche, the height of entertainment? fleeces.

Hi Jo,

Congratulations on finishing the testing - I've just found this site (through the BBC news website) and have been reading your blogs with envy. Sounds like an amazing experience. London ticking away as ever with lots of work and lots of 30th birthdays. Hope you had fun with Matt - he was SO excited at the thought of seeing you. See you soon in rainy London. Fran x

Have been following the expedition since hearing of it on RTe radio early in 2007. Delighted to hear so many of the team summitted successfully. Looking forward to hearing the findings of the tests. I'm sure there will be some unexpected results. Nature never ceases to surprise and awe! Comhgairdeachas do gach duine. Congratulations to all involved .
