Pheriche - Inaugural entry
Our lab is the no frills experience. We consist of Jim, our lab manager originally from North Carolina USA, currently trying to become English and two doctors from New Zealand, Paul and Amber. Just as well our lab is filled with kiwi ingenuity and number 2 fencing wire as demonstrated early on with Paul (a.k.a Bugs), the medical officer fashioning his own envelopes to send hand written medical notes as we have no printer!
We are also on the lookout for a yak who stole Jim?s Tag Heuer watch. It was a premeditated crime with the yak eyeing up Jim?s watch, pinning Jim against a cliff face on the way to Namche and nimbly extracting Jim?s watch from his wrist with his horn. It was last seen disappearing down Tengboche hill. Jim describes the yak as 3 feet high, solid build, black dreadlocks, 2 horns and on time. If anyone spots a yak wearing a watch please return it to Pheriche where you will be suitably rewarded with some sort of paper made surprise.
The boys have also started resistance training in the sun room to try and restore their flagging muscle bulk. This also doubles as Pheriche entertainment for on looking porters and guides. Hopefully there will be some results!! This definitely beats a data projector for hours of fun.
Pheriche also has an increase in population with many baby yaks and naks as recent additions. These have all been named by the HRA doctor, Ann. We would like to welcome baby yak David to join Judy, Brian and Kevin. David?s mother was not too pleased with our interest in her newborn and tried to climb a stone wall to scare Bugs off!!
Jim has also set the land speed record from Tengboche to Pheriche in 2 hours. What the need for the internet (and love) makes you do!!
And the science is going well too.
