Nigel Hart?s Caudwell Xtreme Everest Blog

Welcome to my blog on CXE. I have previously been blogging on www.everestdiary.blogspot.com but have taken up the offer to host the blog on the CXE website.
Today we have moved up from Pheriche to Lobuche (4930m). It has been a stunning walk gaining the lateral moraine alongside the Lobuche Khola and turning right to gain the moraine alongside the lower reaches of the Khumbu Glacier. Moving into this area has given a great sense of getting close as we have seen Pumo Ri (7165), Lingtren (6749) and Nuptse (7861) coming into view. The extra altitude has taken its toll and some of the expedition members have taken to bed for a little sleep this afternoon. However in general all is going well. There is a real sense of building excitement as we approach Everest Base camp (EBC) in 2 days time ? time for more research work and the adventure on to Everest begins. By: Georgie Thompson | When: 4th Apr 2007 11:24 | I'm so excited to read all the news of the expedition and only wish I was there too but Australia won the toss....this time. I'm so happy to be able to read about you all.
Exceeding the limits of human performance and being the closest to space on your feet you'll ever be is so inspiring. You'll make John West proud! Please keep those of us not so lucky to be there involved by continuing the good work with your great blogs.
Best wishes and love to Patrick Doyle,Paul Gunning (oi! stay off the local brew!) and the whole expedition- In the meantime we're keeping the Saffa and Brit Anaesthetic end up in Australia guys!
See you back in London
