My Blog site has moved from www.RogersEverestDiary.Blogspot.com to the Caudwell Xtreme Everest website. I hope to up date you daily with my personal thoughts during this Everest expedition.
We are now in Phereche at 4230m high in the Kumbu valley, its now beginning to get very cold and we are well above the tree line. We can all feel the altitude though all of us are coping very well with mild headaches the worst of the altitude illness. It is sobering to think that we are still not even halfway up this mountain yet.
I had a lazy day today and did some washing of clothes and had a shower.
After breakfast I found AngRita who helps run the Himalayan rescue Association Hospital here in Phereche. In 2004 on our honeymoon my wife and I were put up by AngRita for three nights and we met his granddaughter who was about 15months at the time. My wife Sara gave me some colouring pencils for her so I had to find out what happened to this little girl. I asked AngRita about her and he pointed to a field at the back of the house and said "ohh Yessss" and there was the little girl Paldin-Zanmu who is now
three playing with her baby sister of 14 months called Dembote.
I gave them the colouring pencils and took this Photograph.
I showed AngRita the pictures of Aoife and Isolde. He thought Aoife was
3! She?s actually 16months.
Tomorrow we have an easy day moving up the valley again to Lobuje another 500m higher, so well into the zone of potential acute mountain sickness.
The Base Camp guys are well under way constructing the BC but they tell us its -18c at night. Mmmmm that?s cold! Post a comment on this article... Open message form

Great to see you on the other side of the world (almost). I see in respect of your surroundings you have a adopted a Buddhist aspect.
Sara mentioned that you had a blog, it seems obvious now that you would have one and am unsure why I did not check it out sooner but I will certainly be keeping a close eye on the blog in future.
Onwards and upwards
John
