Kathmandu lab hand-over

Kathmandu Lab Hand-Over

5 messages :: read>

It was strange having other team members with us here in Kathmandu. For almost 2 weeks, we had acted as our own little ?Maverick? group, sorting out problems for ourselves and working with the Sherpas to get everything ready to hand over to the next team.

This morning, Helen set her team to work at full speed and before we knew it they were saying that they were almost finished. Life?s not fair sometimes is it?! For 2 weeks, we had either been battling with airlines and Nepalese Customs, or bored waiting for something to do. They swan in at 5:00pm on the Friday night and declare that they are almost finished by 4:00pm the following afternoon!

Jim, in his usual diplomatic American way, explained that it was all down to the Logistics Team being a bunch of ?slackers? and we?d spent far too much time mountain biking. Fair comment I suppose!

We battled on. Rhys erected a very smart shelter for the Honda generators and Paul tinkered with his electrical gadgets, just to make sure everything was as it should be. Lee focused on our next job, which is to get all the equipment with us to Namche, where it will start all over again.

At 5:00pm, the hand-over of the Kathmandu laboratory was undertaken with a formal ceremony. As ?Power? Manager, Paul had the honours of passing on responsibility of this lab to Helen. As you can see from the photo, the rest of is took it all very seriously as well!
