Escape?

2 messages :: read>

Mac is still in Lukla. Yet again the Caudwell Xtreme Everest logisitics team are being delayed by circumstances beyond their control. This time it is the weather, as the monsoon has started. They need clear skies to fly helicopters out of Lukla, and the skies are not playing ball. Mac is due to fly home with the rest of us on Saturday, so we will just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope that he arrives in the next couple of days.

The blood samples and muscle biopsies were picked up by World Courier yesterday, and are heading to the UK for storage until we are ready to analyse them. The local Nepalese customs and airport staff were fascinated by the dry ice the samples were packed in. The shipment caused quite a stir at Kathmandu airport.

Today will be spent sorting through the remaining barrels from the labs and deciding what needs to go back to the UK by sea, by air, and what will remain in Kathmandu. Then, it is a case of some last minute shopping in Thamel, and packing up ready to go home. We have quite few more goodbyes and thank yous to organise as well. Strange to think that I will be back in the office in London on Monday!

Hello Kay,

Hope you are having a relaxing time at the summit hotel. Must feel good to pack.

Sorry to hear Mac is still stuck in Lukla... Did you tell him the runway is also a football ground at times?

Best wishes to all and have a safe trip back home!

Kind regards,
Isabelle
