Freezer Action!

Denny dressed for the freezer
6 messages :: read>

Today is Monday, and I believe that a large number of our team went back to their jobs in the UK today. We wish them a good day back, and hope that their inboxes are not too large! Currently, I am sitting in the equipment yard behind the Summit Hotel, guarding the freezer door where our samples are located. Denny and Lyn are inside sorting the 15,000 blood samples that we are shipping back to the UK. Whilst it is about 30 degrees in the sun outside, they are in down suits as it is about -10 degrees inside.

Most of our sherpas are here, helping to clean and dry the tents, sleeping mats and other camping gear before it is shipped back to the UK. I will be starting to sort through some of our barrels that have come off down the mountain. We have stationery items, games and other bits and pieces that we will donate to a local school. I also need to find a barrel of medals, so that we can give the sherpas a medal each for all their hard work. Mac has finally reached Lukla with the last of the equipment that was stranded at Tsanboche, and Pema and a small team of Sherpas. It will be good to see him back safe and sound in Kathmandu, and I am sure he will appreciate the luxury after nearly three months of living in the Khumbu valley.

Hi all
Continued congratulations - what a mammoth task, and thanks again to Mac and all his team for such a superhuman effort.
Can't wait to see you all again - any news of a re-union?

Hope that it doesn't take forever to sort all the blood samples! We have found your updates great to read over the last few months so thanks very much! Arwen (Denny's mate!)

Miss Kay,
It seems as if life got a little more complicated with return to civilization. I would imagine you are motivated to move swiftly as a flight home is on the other side of these tasks. Good luck on the speed of work and continued safe journey.
