The team are spread out over the Khumbu valley. Many are in Lukla hoping to fly to Kathmandu tomorrow. I am still in Namche with approximately 15 others, and Mac is in Pheriche. The reason for this spread of the team is that the weather is doing its level best to thwart plans of the team to get all members and gear back to Kathmandu on schedule. The clouds have descended in Pheriche and Namche. It is like a regular London pea souper, and this means that the helicopters cannot fly in to lift out the gear. In turn, this means that the Sherpas have been delayed guarding all our gear, and our thank you party may be in jeopardy next week.

There is one good thing about all this delay. The team have been able to read books, play some pool, and generally relax after our efforts. This is something that many members have not done for a while.

Caudwell Xtreme Everest are pleased to announce that a large number of their lab staff made a successful ascent of Island Peak. They completed this after finishing testing at the various laboratories in the Khumbu valley. Their names include Rhys Bevan, Dick Burnham, Jo Simpson, Jim Pate, Rob Liddel, Ben Dempsey, Liesl Wandrag, Jildou van der Kaaij, Nikki Kolfschoten, Jules Harvey, Gwen Morgan, Paul Richards, Callan Stroud, George Rodway, Mark Edsell, and Mark Wilson.

Miss Kay,
Sorry to hear of the enforced R&R. My son is back with a nice case of giardia after letting his guard down in Kathmandu...so suggest continued vigilance. I hope the weather recedes enough for the thank you party to proceed. I also hope for continued blogs from you of the progress of the team and status of the research. Thank you....Lamont
