Crampon Fun
14 messages :: read>
Simon Lowe, the MD of Jagged Globe, kindly went into town and found me the same cutting edge crampons only many sizes bigger to fit my large Sportiva Spantik boots.
So all was good and up at 3.00 AM to do our diaries and report in it how severely happy we felt. Travelling through Kathmandu at 5.00 AM was a more civilized affair with only the yaks vying for road space.
At 6.30 AM it became clear that our flight was delayed ? poor weather at Lukla. The VIP Restaurant was not the place to be waiting for many hours especially for a flight that was to prove to be cancelled.
After many stories and discussion on every topic from global warming to the state of the toilets which, by the way, to our intrepidation were said by ?those who know? to be pretty good, we dejectedly returned to the hotel. Good news ? well not really any ? bad news another dawn start in the name of science.
Enterprisingly, there was an Anglo-American union meeting to avoid yet another sleepless night. Whatever the outcome to our weak protestations, one thing is for sure, we all desperately want to be trekking for proper before we go Kathmandu crazy.
The thunder and torrential rain at the moment suggest we many not be so lucky!

How very interesting to read JC's daily reports - just visualising your location in some small way - really looking forward to seeing your photos - only thing is you know what it's like when friends invite you round to show you their latest caravan holiday videos/ photos and after 3 hours everyone starts looking at their watches and saying "Is that the time?" well.................. Hope the medics aren't poking and prodding too much - know what they're like! Take care of your BP etc.

Bet you are dying to get your teeth into the trek. Hope you are finally underway. How will you cope without a phone for over 2 weeks? Will probably seem very relaxing! Do you think you will find a pool table up there, as Dashy says you need the practice. Best wishes to both of you. Steve |
By: Ray Majer | When: 24th Apr 2007 16:30 | Hi John and Brian,I hope you're both well and "enjoying" yourselves?Sorry not to have posted a message before now but I've only just found out about this site (thanks to Beck's).Anyway, I hope all goes well for everyone and the trek's not too arduous.I can't imagine what your adventure must be like,however,I can't see that it could possibly be as exciting as being here in Crewe?
The best of luck to you both and Brian,remember...........don't look down!!
Take care. Ray.
