On the trail again

Nunnery at Deboche
7 messages :: read>

It is Saturday 31st March, and the core team have reached the White Yak in Pheriche. The trek from Deboche was quite sedate, and there was lots of opportunity to stop at tea houses along the way, and drink lemon tea. We have now reached the dizzy height of 4200m, and it is quite noticeable when one moves too quickly. The team are generally in good spirits, although a few people have been suffering with upset stomachs. Still, we are falling over doctors, so there is no problem getting lots of advice and suitable medications as required.

IMAX and Horizon have been busy filming us as we trek up the Khumbu valley. It is a bit strange walking around a corner and suddenly coming face to face with a camera, but the crews are great fun to work with.

Our official photographer, Paul Gunning, has been snapping away also. He organised a photo competition for the team at Namche, and we hope to put the four finalists on the website for general comment.

Dr Mike Grocott, Expedition Leader is very pleased with the progress of the expedition. He says ?The great news is that all the lab and mess tents have been set up at Everest Base Camp, Mac is extremely happy with the progress that the Logistics team are making.?

We have two more nights in Pheriche before heading on up the trail.

Good luck Ros, and all in team E - we're following your progress with great interest back here in the UK, and looking forward to hearing of your exploits on your return

Hi Miss Kay,
I hope your trek continues to go well. I hope Ryan has been taking those pictures politely. Continued success on the acclimatization and continued safe journey.

Kay et al,
Good to hear of your progress. Mary, your elder sister, and daughters, Susi and Christine, left yesterday and are on your trail but lagging (Kathmandu). Susi's been up to 4,400 metres before (in Ecuador) and she's 'up for it'.
I've suggested 3 themes for them to research (Environment for Mary; Nepalese cultures for Susi; sports medicine for Christine) and my 'Listening to Nature' book of daily readings for you all (It really ought to reach the top of Everest, it's so good).
Mum sends her prayers, and so do I.
Lotsa luv,
Dad

It is so good to read of your progress and that all is going to plan. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to do your reports for us all to enjoy. Group E are in the final countdown, emailing each other and starting to get really excited. We're looking forward to seeing you all there.
