Sums

I always quite liked maths at school. There was a 'right answer'. Trigonometry was good, simultaneous equations did not phase me, and those things in brackets that I cannot remember the name of.

Trying to do the Xtreme Everest accounts is a whole different ball game. This may be because I cannot go to the back of the text book to find out if I have the 'right answer'! There is no right answer because we are still actively fundraising. This does make balancing the books extremely frustrating.

I was speaking to our accountant David Gorton today, and he was highly amused by my moaning. Thank goodness for people like him who enjoy that sort of thing. A good job he loves the mountains as well as we would not have his support otherwise.

It is about eight thirty in the evening, and three of us are still in the office working. I suppose that is one way to balance the books. Do the work of three people.

This blog sounds like a bit of a moan, but in fact I do feel extremely priveleged to be involved in this project. I only have to look at the photos from Cho Oyu, and review the research we have already achieved during both dress rehearsals to know that I am involved in something special. It is just hard to remember that at eight thirty on a Wednesday evening. I will write again soon.
