The story so far

Caudwell Xtreme Everest Team

Caudwell Xtreme Everest are pleased to announce that they are halfway through their research programme in Nepal. The eighth trek (out of 13) have reached base camp, and are undergoing testing today and tomorrow, before heading back down to Kathmandu.

The climbing team are currently in Dingboche for a period of rest and recuperation. This is to give them the opportunity to prepare for their summit bid later this month. The climbing team have already completed a comprehensive portfolio of science at Camp Two. On returning to the mountain they will attempt to complete a smaller portfolio of experiments at the South Col, and the Summit. This is not likely to be before the middle of May due to weather conditions anticipated on Everest.

Once the final trek group has passed through each laboratory, the lab staff will pack up the labs and head up to Everest Base Camp. They will arrive in time to see the climbers return from the mountain, hopefully having completed the mountain research and successfully summitted. 24 members of the Caudwell Xtreme team will then undergo a final comprehensive set of physiological tests. The whole team aim to be back in Kathmandu by the middle of June.
