Expedition Manager visits Victron

Victon

Mac Mackenney, XE's Expedition Manager, yesterday visited one of our sponsors, Victron, to give a presentation to their wordwide distributors at a conference in Amsterdam. They are supplying us with Phoenix Multiplus inverter/charger units.

The visit was arranged by Danny Jones, their UK Sales Manager, who supplied XE with a Victron unit within just 3 days of Mac first contacting him before our recent expedition to Cho Oyu, Tibet.

The Phoenix Multiplus controlled the power distribution between the Honda generators and Exide batteries, allowing the system to be almost totally automated. If the generators ran out of fuel, the Victon unit would instantly draw power from the bateries, resutling in no loss of power at any time. This allowed the computers and other research equipment to keep running continuously during the day.

Mac gave a presentation to the 80-strong delegation about the history of Xtreme Everest, what we are trying to achieve and our recent trip to Tibet.

Victron Managing Director, Reinout Vader, said,

"I consider that Xtreme Everest is a very worthwhile project and we are happy to provide them with whatever they need to complete their medical research".

It is planned that each of the 5 medical laboratories that we are establishing in Nepal will haver their own indepenent power supply and Victron units will be at the cornerstone of our needs.

See our sponsors page for more information.
