Sing Me A Song!
They have a guitar, a tambourine, a madal (a type of Nepalese bongo drum), and some other strange instruments that I have never heard before. They sing very different songs compared with what I am used to. I heard a song about the jungle and ?awhoo? in the chorus. That must be the sound of an animal. Do you know which one they are singing?
When we are on our way, walking with our drivers, we both make music. Around our neck we wear a necklace with a bell. The necklace is a very nice coloured one. It is made partially from wool, which comes from our hair. My parents wear a bigger necklace with a lot of bells. When I shake my head, I can make a lot of noise! When the whole herd shakes their heads it sounds like a big orchestra!
Nepalese people like singing a lot. They also use the drum; much better than I have heard from the Caudwell Xtreme members! Haha! I think that it is quite a difficult instrument to play. A well known Nepalese song is Resham Pheeree Ree (which means in English: my heart is fluttering like silk in the wind). It is talking about love. The Sherpas sing it on the trekkers? final night in camp. We like listening to it. We cuddle together and swing gently with our heads. A lot of the Caudwell Xtreme members know the chorus very well and they join in with loud singing and lots of clapping. The trekkers always sing a song as well. They change the words of a well known song into something that describes their experiences of the trek. It is nice to listen to. It gives us an impression of how they have lived for 2 weeks in my country. Funnily, there is always something about yaks! Maybe you can make a song yourself about something you have experienced recently? Post a comment on this article... Open message form
