The YES Consultancy is a public relations company that specialises in adventurous expeditions.

In 1997, the agency?s founder encouraged McVitie?s biscuits to sponsor what became the Women?s Penguin Polar Relay ? the first relay to the North Pole. The intrepid team included Caroline Hamilton, Ann Daniels and Rosie Stancer, all of whom have since become accomplished polar athletes. It was led by American Mattie McNair and Canadian Denise Martin.

Fast forward to 2003 when The YES Consultancy publicised the Tetley South Pole Mission, when Simon Murray became the oldest man (aged 63) to trek to the South Pole and Pen Hadow became the only Brit to have trekked unsupported to both poles. Simon and Pen raised over ?250,000 for the Royal Geographical Society?s polar archives and raised awareness for the Society through a fund raising campaign in The Times newspaper.

Moving from pole to oceans, the agency encouraged a fruit company to sponsor the Pink Lady Atlantic Row where a crew of four attempted to row from Newfoundland, Canada to Falmouth, Cornwall.

Pete Bray from Cardiff, John Wills from Elstead, Surrey, Jonathan Gornall from London and Mark Stubbs from Poole, were rescued 370 miles off the Scilly Isles on Sunday August 8 2004, close to the end of their 2,100 mile Atlantic row when their boat split in two in a force 11 gale caused by the tail end of Hurricane Alex.

The crew were picked up by a Danish Scandinavian Reefer vessel, where the skipper skilfully reached the flimsy life raft, a feat filmed by a Nimrod Crew who the crew later met face to face and thanked in Kinloss, Scotland.

Pete Bray was awarded a medal for bravery by the Royal Humane Society, thanks to him saving the life of fellow crew member Jonathan Gornall.

Following this, the YES Consultancy encouraged Pink Lady Apples to become involved with another adventurous endeavour ? the Scott Dunn Polar Challenge, a long distance race to the Magnetic North Pole. The Pink Lady PoleCats were the first ever all-female team to participate in this 360-mile competition and they fought off strong competition to achieve a highly respectable sixth place, beating many male teams in the process.

The YES Consultancy worked with climbing specialists, Jagged Globe, to publicise their expeditions to Everest that coincided with Sir Ran Fiennes? decision to join a party ascending the North Ridge Route.

Conrad Dickinson and his wife Hilary became the first married couple to trek to the South Pole and then doubled the feat by kite-skiing back in January 2005. This was quickly followed by an unsupported North Pole trek in 2007 (www.northgatenorthpoleclassic.com) with Canadian ski champion, Richard Weber. On April 27 2006, after 52 days and 12 hours, the pair completed the 775 km trek in atrocious conditions, becoming the first people to complete the journey in snow shoes, rather than skis.

The agency is currently working with polar adventurer Hannah McKeand as part of her bid to reach the Geographic South Pole solo and unsupported. She is aiming to complete the 690-mile trek from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole in less than 42 days. If successful, she will become the fastest person ever to complete this gruelling feat.

Tina Fotherby, the agency?s MD said, ?We have handled many expeditions and consider it a complete privilege to be working with the team at Xtreme Everest. The vision and generosity of the medical team is astonishing and their work will ultimately improve the life expectancy of many people who have the misfortune to be on life support machines. That?s what we call exciting!?
