With the Cortex equipment we can analyse the breathed gases. To complete the story we will need to analyse the composition of the blood. This will tell us how well the oxygen delivery system is functioning, and variety of other information that can indicate how far a subject a may be straying from the normal range.

The I-Stat equipment is compact and simple to use, lending itself to use on the mountains. Tested in Chamonix it is now seeing service on Cho Oyu it requires only a few drops of blood to gibe lab accurate results.
