Professor of Health Psychology, Head of the Centre of Behavioural and Social Sciences in Medicine at University College London, Director Brain and Cardiac Surgery Group at UCL and Honorary Consultant at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Specialist research interest in the impact of surgery on the brain. Established the impact of routine cardiac surgery on the brain, identified the mechanisms causing damage and has worked on a series of interventions that have reduced the impact of surgery on the brain.

He has over 200 research publications and has also published 10 books. His work was featured in the BBC2 programme ?Intensive Scares?.
