Dr Patrick Doyle - Saccadic Eye Movements

Patrick Doyle
Dr Patrick Doyle is based at Charing Cross Hospital in London, where he is a Consultant and Chief of Service for Anaesthesia. Patrick is a graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa and initially trained in anaesthesia at Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, South Africa. He eventually moved to East Anglia to complete his anaesthetic studies at Cambridge.

A late convert to climbing, Patrick has managed to take in some of the finest climbing spots around including Norway, France and Canada. He has also undertaken 3 expeditions to Kilimanjaro (August 2004), Denali (Upper Rib, May 2006) and Cho Oyu (8201m) last September.

His particular area of research is the use of saccadic eye-movements as a research tool in the clinical setting. He will be using the information obtained from the Xtreme group of climber-scientists toward his higher degree.

A serial endurance athlete, Patrick has also completed the Comrades Marathon in South Africa (90km) and numerous triathlons and marathons. Interests in African Politics, art and the ?next deal? keep him busy, but he admits to being a closet ?Desperate Housewives? fan.
