Nail file?

Trek E are continuing to test well. It has been sunnier this morning, which has been a relief to them. The lab staff are trying to decide whether they wish to venture out of base camp tomorrow as they have a couple of days off before the next trek arrives. The difficulty is that a lot of the lab staff are part of the core team being tested. Our research leaders have placed altitude restrictions on movements for the non-climbers. We are not allowed to go more than 500metres below or above our current elevation.

Some of our climbing team have moved up the mountain today. Mike Grocott, Sundeep Dhillon, Chris Imray, Nigel Hart and Michael Brown (IMAX) have moved up the Lhotse face towards Camp three, and we are expecting news of their arrival imminently. Mac, our Base Camp Manager, monitors the radio 24 hours a day to ensure we know their exact whereabouts. Pema, our base camp sirdar, does the same with our Sherpa team. The rest of the climbing team have remained at camp two to carry out further research.

Caudwell Xtreme Everest Base Camp have been visited by a reporter from the Daily Telegraph. Otherwise, life is settling into a routine. I have been trying to file my nails today with some warding files that I borrowed from Mac?s toolbox. Needless to say, they are not very effective, and I shall have to get the nail clippers out later!

Hello Kay,

I notice that you seem to have been responsible for the outbreak of snow wars and then sat back and watched the carnage. I knew I related to you for a reason!

Ian is on his way up with Trek I (or H, I get confused!) and as he used to play cricket his bowling skills may come in useful should the Evil Sherpa Empire strike back.

Hope you are all well.

Norma : )

Hello Kay,
Would you please give this to Liesl.

Darm nie so koud soos by jou nie.

Baie groete,
Frans

Hi Kay
I feel the need for a French Manicure coming on again! This time I think I'll join you ... so put the date in your diary. In the meantime, go easy on Mac's files, he might need them for doing 'proper' work.
Love Mary

Hi Jules, hope you are well? We are having nice warm weather here at the mo. The ground is cracked & dry it is so long since we have had rain. We have planted beans, pot & peas & have to keep watering them. Off to France on Tues for an 8 day break. Just been to Amsterdam with 3 friends where we had a great time.
Regards Sandra.

Hi Kay! Good to see you keeping up standards out there. Hope you are keeping well, both pyhsically and mentally - you've got a tough job on your hands managing such a mammoth project. Is there any chance of an itinerary for the summit team, please? I don't even know how many camps there are and from which camp the summit push is normally done. Chris said that he was off to Camp 1 for eleven days last week, but yesterday he blogged from Camp 2 and today you say that they were heading for Camp 3! It would be really good to have a clearer mental picture of the coming weeks, if at all poss, please? Keep well; keep safe; keep strong; keep happy. Love, Sylvia :-)

Hi Kay. Could you give us a quick update as to where all the climbing team are? Camp 1? 2? or maybe onto 3? Unfortunately we don't get much news of them the higher they go.
Thanks for all your blogs - keep it up.

Thank you Kay for latest information and responding to my emails.
We rarely see photos of Vijay. He must be camera shy. I check most of the blogs to see how things are progressing and of course for any news about him.

Wonder how my husband is doing! He's the oldest one on Trek E (nearly 65!). I am really proud of him for getting there - pity the weather hasn't been too good for them
