We are so lucky. We are staying in a beautiful lodge in Pheriche called the White Yak. It is unbelievable. This lodge run by Tsering Phintso, and his wife Maya has a stripped wooden floor in the common room, double glazing, tiled bathrooms and toilets, and a lovely sun house.
Beatrice, a family friend of the lodge owners, served a fantastic French Onion Soup, The food today has been just as good. The lodge owners are bountiful hosts, and I am sure that our trekkers will have an excellent stay here.
I have spent the day updating the website. Many of the team have been commissioned into writing articles for me, and they are all rising to the challenge. I was particularly pleased to find that Michael, one of the IMAX crew, was a geographer. He has written a short history of the birth of Everest.
Currently, I am sitting in the lodge common room, listening to the rest of the core team murder the song Maggie May by Rod Stewart. This is after a hard day?s work. Nikki is now about to sing ?I try? by Maisie Grey. Nikki used to be in a band back in Holland, and it shows. She is ably accompanied by Nigel on the guitar. We are causing the Sherpas quite a lot of bemusement. They are standing around watching the whole spectacle.
The core team have brought several guitars, a drum and a shaker to keep themselves entertained. Nigel Hart spent a lot of time preparing a Caudwell Xtreme Everest song book, so no one has any excuses. Surely, it will be good practice for the breathing in the thin atmosphere.

By: Rosemary Watson | When: 3rd Apr 2007 10:30 | Hi Nigel, I'm glad all is going well so far. I follow the daily updates on the caudwell site and on your own blog spot. Its great to keep up to date with you in this way. Naomi had a great weekend at Marlborough and of course we had April Fool played on us by Connor, Sophia and Patrick. We're looking forward to spending some time with them over Easter Weekend and next week. In your absence, we are making a birthday cake for you and going to sing to you on Sunday. Keep up the good work and will email you soon. Luv Rosemary |
