A Barrel of Laughs!
Mac Mackenney, our Expedition Manager, has sent round a stern email! He has reminded all members of the core team that they need to have their personal barrels at the Archway office ready for shipping by next Wednesday. These barrels will be sent straight to the laboratory each team member will be based at for the duration of the trip. This means that we will not see the kit for about two months. It requires a lot of thought!
I will be spending at least part of this weekend shopping for some of the items that need to go in my barrels. I am particularly keen to ensure I have one or two luxury items, such as a pillow and some good books. We have been given strict weight limits, and power is a rare commodity at base camp. Hence, my luxuries may appear rather modest.
Mac and his logistics team are leaving in exactly 4 weeks time. Between now and then they will have packed or supervised the packing of around 400 barrels and goodness knows how many tough cases. This does not include the supplies that Jagged Globe are putting together on our behalf. This whole expedition is proving to be a mammoth undertaking, and every member of the team based at Archway must be dreaming of spreadsheets every night. We seem to spend a huge amount of time creating, altering and referring to them.
We only have 8 days of sea level testing left, and then we must move onto the Xtreme Team. That will be an even bigger barrel of laughs.

(scary trying to fill your boots and not sure if we have any funding but hey it will be fun trying!). Good luck with the expicitions and experiments - we are all watching with baited breath (I really mean that - Dr Watson often comments about pO2 and altitude when the patient is on 100% with a paO2 of 8 (like we had this week!).
