It is an aim of Xtreme Everest to be as environmentally friendly as possible by using solar power to charge the battery banks. The weather and periods of high energy use will not always make this possible. A reliable back up and boost option is essential and Honda?s portable generators were always the first choice for this.

Honda have modified our generators for the rarified atmosphere and cold conditions on Cho Oyu and Everest. They have been performing superbly on Cho Oyu, the humming noise being a most welcome indication that work can continue whatever the weather may do.

The EU10i and EU20i generators provide the team with up 1600W of durable clean energy that is purer than the National Grid. Power is passed through a special microprocessor that "smooths" the output so computers and other sensitive electrical equipment can run safely. In addition, the EU20i's EcoThrottle offers excellent fuel economy by incorporating a load dependent speed control.

These Honda generators are extremely portable and produce only 59dB sound at 7 metres when running at full load - less than common speech.
