Dr Nigel Hart

Nigel has joined the Caudwell Xtreme Everest 2007 expedition as one of the summit team and part of the climbing team carrying out medical research. He will be involved with the sleep study experiment which will be carried out at base camp.

Prior to studying medicine, Nigel worked in the IT industry. In 1999 he graduated from Queen?s University Belfast with a degree in Medicine. He completed his GP training (MRCGP) in 2003 and went on graduate from Queen?s University with an MD in December 2006. He has an interest in medical undergraduate education and has been involved in teaching medical students since 2003. He is currently completing a Masters in Medical education.

Nigel developed an interest in mountaineering in his teens. Since then his mountaineering experience has stretched from Scotland to the Alps and the Himalayas. He climbed Ramtang in the shadow of Kangchenjunga in 1998 and Cho Oyu in 2005. He is also a keen cyclist, canoeist and runner.

Aside from medicine and mountaineering Nigel is married to a very supportive and understanding wife Caroline and has three children Patrick 11, Sophia 8 and Connor 7.
